The lovely Marilyn Monroe graces my gallery again. She wore this purple gown in the movie, How To Marry a Millionaire.
I searched high and low for a photo of her in this dress. This was the most lovely, but the size of the photo was smaller than I would have liked. After much debate (with myself), I finally decided to draw it. I am glad I did. I love her sexy trademark smile, but it also has that naughty sweetness. Actually the smile gave me a big headache, because half of her mouth was in black dark shadow. Anyway, I won't tell you how much time I struggled with that smile. In the end, I am very pleased with it!
I finished this drawing just in time! I will start my new job tomorrow at CDIA school! I am so excited.
I will continue to draw, of course. There are just too many gorgeous reference photos out there calling out to me.
That is so good! You capturedd her smile to a T!!! I have the same problem with reference photos too. I have about 10 piuctures that I want to draw right now, and I don't know which one to draw first!

First of all good luck with your new job tomorrow.
Another gorgeous work from you May. You did everything perfectly especially on the fabric and that glittering strap of her dress and her silky hair. I love her pose here and can understand perfectly why you chose it. I'll choose the pose I love over the picture quality any days.
